Mission Report July 2008
Greetings in the wonderful name of
our Lord and Savior,
We began the month of July with a three day trip to a
small rural town very close to Monterrey,
Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Monterrey
is among the biggest and busiest cities of the country. The small towns in Monterrey surroundings
are experiencing significant growth due that people prefer to live there and
avoid the city harass. The purpose of our trip was to attend a call to preach
the Word of God to two families (see attached pictures). One is the family of
my nephew (Mario), who moved from Victoria to
the Monterrey
area about a couple years ago. He has not been congregating regularly since he
left Victoria.
This family has four members, the man (Mario), the woman (Aracely),
an eight years old girl and a recently born baby. We believe the Lord is
opening doors there for a mission work, because He providentially put this
family close (about 20 miles away) to another one that we have had communication
with for several years now. This other family also has four members, the man
(Adrian), the woman (Juanita), a 14 years boy and a 10 years girl. We met brother Adrian and his family while we lived in Kentucky. They were
living there as immigrants, the Lord put them in our way and we had the
opportunity to minister to them. At that time bro. Adrian was an unbeliever and he professed
Catholicism. When he was exposed to the teachings of the Word of God, the Lord
saved him. Sister Juanita professed Christ as her savior already when we met
her; she took the step of Baptism under the Hispanic ministry at Grace Baptist
Church in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Later on they returned to Mexico
and we continued in communication with them. They are currently attending a Baptist Church but they do not feel comfortable
with the arminian teachings
and would like us to come and preach for them. During this trip, we had a two
day preaching services. One day at each family home. Please pray for this
potential mission work in Monterrey.
We will need to look for a rental house in that area to meet and start doing
visitation as the Lord leads.
In the last days of July (24-26) ,
I was asked to preach a three day conference for the Berea
Baptist Church
(Pastor Marco Cantu) here in Victoria.
They were celebrating the 8th anniversary of this work and 5 years
that the Church was organized receiving authority from Grace
Baptist Church
(Georgetown, KY). They continue standing in the truth,
preaching the glorious gospel of our Lord Jesus, and teaching the doctrines of
grace. It was a blessing to have the opportunity to encourage them in their
walk with the Lord as well as the missionary work.
Colonia (Subdivision) Alvaro Obregon.
The week of the 19th we started a Vacation Bible School
for children at the “Gracia sobre
Gracia” Baptist Mission. We had an attendance of
about 30 kids (see attached pictures). It was a very tired week since we had
activity every day from Monday through Saturday. It is not easy to walk on the
mountain! I personally felt dizzy at times, but it was worth it, we had the
opportunity to preach the Word to the children. We also continue with the
preaching services here every week on Thursday and Sunday. We have had already
several visitors in the services. The construction work has not been completed
yet since we have been busy with visitation, but a small outdoor restroom has
been built. Please keep praying for this mission work.
Colonia (subdivision) Chapultepec.
Due to the different activities, we have not started
the mission work in this area yet. Keep praying for us that we may find the
right family or a rental house to start the services here, according to the
Lord’s will.
