Missionary Report January, 2010

Dear Brethren in Christ,

The Bible Says: “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation. That Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief”. I Timothy 1:15.

What a wonderful message to sinners. Christ came to save and does save sinners from their sins.

It has been extremely hot for the last month or so. As we wait for the rainy season to fully start the heat and humidity will be high.

The First Baptist Church in the Garden of the Olive Trees had their annual meeting for the anniversary of the church. The church was 27 years old on the sixteenth. We had the meeting from the 14th to the 17th. Pastor Romualdo from the Baptist Church in the Planalto das Goiabeiras preached on the 14th, Pastor João Batista from the Grace Baptist Church preached on the 15th and on the 17th Brother Rômulo from our church preached. On the 16th, Saturday night, Brother Rômulo was ordained to the Gospel ministry. I preached on this night from II Corinthians 4:7 on Earthen Vessels. Rômulo was just a little boy when I first came to Brazil in 1982. He is now 30 years old. He was attending our church with his father and mother when I arrived in Brazil. His father is Pastor Romualdo mentioned above. He was saved and baptized as a young man. He has been faithful in the Lord’s work performing various duties in the church: teacher, caretaker, treasurer, musician (keyboard and violin, song leader), Bible Institute graduate, etc. We thank the Lord for him. Pray for him as a preacher of the Word.

Brother Luiz Fábio and his wife Natasha have moved their membership to the Grace Baptist Church where João Batista is pastor. He felt lead to take a work they have in Mangabeira, Fortaleza. Pray for him as he starts preaching there.

A lady of our church named Jaurícia informed us that she was not coming any more to our church and asked to be disciplined and she was. Her husband left her for another woman and they were divorced. He later wanted her back with the condition that she never go to church again and she agreed. He is a spiritist. Jaurícia was good in translating English into Portuguese. Pray for her.

João Batista, Hélio, Rômulo and I made a trip to Ibicuitaba on the 29th and returned on the 30th. We had a service on Friday night in the Meeting House and brother Rômulo preached on the Second Coming. There was a first time visitor present. Pray for them.

I hope to make a trip to Tucuruí, Pará, the end of this month. Pray for this trip and the possible organization of this work into a church. One of the brothers there said he was returning to the Assembly of God because his wife goes there and she is causing problems. He was disciplined. Pray for them.

Brother Mardônio reports that the services go on as usual in Tapera, Ceará. The same older couple is still attending the services. Pray for them also.

The young man named Ailton that I mentioned before was baptized the last Sunday of 2009. He shows much interest and desire to help in the Lord’s work.

We have some more information about Lee Ellen’s health. She has had a headache for over three months and the tests showed that it was chronic sinus. But a doctor used a scope (I am not the name of it) to check and it showed no sinus problem. Finally the problem was discovered and it is the jaw joint (TMJ). She has had problems with this for a long time. She had some dental work done some months ago and that made the mouthpiece that she uses to get out of alignment. She will have a new mouthpiece made and that should remedy the problem. The dentist gave her a temporary mouthpiece and the headache has already lessoned. We appreciate your prayers for her.

We thank God for you all. We covet your prayers for us as we labor for the Lord here.

The Bible Says. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”. Romans 1:16.
