Retired Pastor Al Gormley passed into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 2, 2011.
Brother Al, as he was affectionately called, was raised right down the road from the country church that he eventually pastored—Bryan Station Baptist Church. After the Lord saved him in June of 1951, he became assistant pastor inJanuary of 1961, and in 1962, he became pastor.
He retired in January 2010, after nearly 50 years faithfully shepherding the flock God had placed in his protective hands. He led the church into a world-wide printing ministry, wrote several books himself, and was the editor of The Pioneer Baptist. He always claimed the promise, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. He was a founding board member of Blue Grass Baptist School, serving for 30 years, first as secretary and then as chairman.
He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and pastor. Brother Al will be greatly missed by the many who loved him and appreciated the truth he taught during his ministry.
